We are currently in Construction Administration Phase of the expansion and renovation of Hiteon Elementary School. The expansion includes 12 new classrooms, a music room, resource rooms, restrooms, and a new entry, along with a remodel and expansion of the existing administration area. Other work includes a renovation and remodel of the existing library and all classrooms. The design team employed daylighting strategies such as high windows and building orientation to maximize daylight penetration into the circulation and common areas of the new addition and renovated spaces.
The scope of the expansion project includes substantial site work, including redesigning areas of the campus to allow for a new ballpark and creating a buffer between the parent drop off and the bus lanes. Contextual factors such as the impact of nearby roads and the necessary improvements they underwent as a result of the expansion project were also examined and carefully considered in the overall success of the site design.
The design, currently under construction, is the result of the design team’s ability and effort to work for the best interest of all parties involved, delivering an aesthetically pleasing, functional facility that is within budget and schedule.
