Humboldt State University
University Center Plaza

Arcata, California

The plaza is the focal point of student activities on campus.  The redesign of the University Center Plaza increased handicapped accessibility for the entire campus.  A glass elevator with clock tower allows quick and easy access to the bookstore from the main Plaza level.  Modifications were made to the restroom facilities on the second and third floors of the center.  A lighted pedestrian walkway from the third floor of the University Center to Founder’s Hall was constructed to allow wheelchair bound students access to the Hall.  In addition, an exterior student amphitheater was added to the Center’s west side.
